Instructions to Temporarily Disable Gatekeeper for seamless Plugin Installation on macOS

I am Manuel, the plugin developer for VectorBits. I wanted to provide you with crucial instructions on temporarily disabling Gatekeeper on macOS to ensure a smooth installation process for our plugins.

Why Disable Gatekeeper:

Gatekeeper is a security feature on macOS that may prevent the installation of apps from unidentified developers. To seamlessly install our plugins, it’s necessary to temporarily disable Gatekeeper.

Instructions:

1. Disable Gatekeeper:
   • Open the Terminal application.
   • Execute the following command:
     sudo spctl --master-disable
2. System Preferences:
   • Open “System Preferences” from the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.
   • Select “Security & Privacy.”
   • In the “General” tab, click the padlock icon in the bottom-left corner and enter your password to make changes.
   • Change the “Allow apps downloaded from:” setting to “Anywhere.” Confirm by clicking the padlock again.
3. Plugin Installation:
   • With Gatekeeper disabled, install our plugins, and open Vectorworks. Plugins should load.
4. Reactivate Gatekeeper:
   • After successful installation, it’s crucial to reactivate Gatekeeper for continued system security.
     • Open the Terminal application.
     • Execute the following command:
       sudo spctl --master-enable
